• New Zealand has become the first country to outlaw the use of plastic bags.

• New Zealand became the first country to officially ban all single-use plastic that supermarket customers use to collect their fruit and vegetables.

• The new ban on thin bags will eliminate 150 million plastic produce bags from circulation each year.

• Michael Rosen wins this year’s PEN Pinter Prize.

• Rosen is known for making poetry accessible to children through his work and performances. His themes are often social, political and ethical.

• The prestigious award is bestowed upon a writer hailing from UK, Ireland or the commonwealth.

  DHARMA CHAKRA DAY

• The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Government of India, celebrated Ashadha Purnima on 3 July, 2023 as the Dharma Chakra Pravartana Divas at National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi.

• It is the annual flagship event of IBC and the second most sacred day for Buddhists after the Buddha Purnima or the Vaishakha Purnima.

• The president emphasized the significance of following Sheel, Sadhachar, and Pragya to empower the younger generation and create a positive impact on society.

• The construction contract for the India International Centre for Buddhist Culture and Heritage in Lumbini, Nepal was also awarded.

  eSARAS MOBILE APP

• It is launched by The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).

• The eSARAS mobile app to support the marketing of products made by women in self-help groups (SHGs).

• The app aims to provide a platform for the marketing of authentic handicrafts and handlooms.

• The initiative aims to promote local products and enhance livelihood opportunities for SHG members.

  ENERGY TRANSITION INDEX 2023

• Index is released by WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM (WEF).

• It has ranked India at the 67th place globally on its Energy Transition Index (ETI).

• The Index highlights India as the sole major economy with energy transition momentum accelerating across all dimensions and Singapore is the only other major economy showing "true momentum by advancing sustainability, energy security and equity in a balanced way.

• Sweden topped the list and was followed by Denmark, Norway, Finland and Switzerland.

• न्यूजीलैंड प्लास्टिक बैग के उपयोग पर प्रतिबंध लगाने वाला पहला देश बन गया है।

  पेन पिंटर पुरस्कार 2023-

  • माइकल रोसेन ने इस वर्ष का PEN पिंटर पुरस्कार जीता।

  • रोसेन को अपने काम और प्रदर्शन के माध्यम से बच्चों के लिए कविता सुलभ बनाने के लिए जाना जाता है। उनके विषय प्रायः सामाजिक, राजनीतिक और नैतिक होते हैं।

  धर्म चक्र दिवस

• भारत सरकार के संस्कृति मंत्रालय के तत्वावधान में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बौद्ध परिसंघ (आईबीसी) ने 3 जुलाई, 2023 को राष्ट्रीय संग्रहालय, जनपथ, नई दिल्ली में आषाढ़ पूर्णिमा को धर्म चक्र प्रवर्तन दिवस के रूप में मनाया।

• यह IBC का वार्षिक प्रमुख कार्यक्रम है और बुद्ध पूर्णिमा या वैशाख पूर्णिमा के बाद बौद्धों के लिए दूसरा सबसे पवित्र दिन है।

• राष्ट्रपति ने युवा पीढ़ी को सशक्त बनाने और समाज पर सकारात्मक प्रभाव पैदा करने के लिए शील, सदाचार और प्रज्ञा का पालन करने के महत्व पर जोर दिया।

• नेपाल के लुंबिनी में भारत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बौद्ध संस्कृति और विरासत केंद्र के निर्माण का ठेका भी दिया गया।

  ईसारस मोबाइल ऐप

• इसे दीनदयाल अंत्योदय योजना-राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण आजीविका मिशन (DAY-NRLM) द्वारा लॉन्च किया गया है।

• स्वयं सहायता समूहों (एसएचजी) में महिलाओं द्वारा बनाए गए उत्पादों के विपणन में सहायता के लिए eSARAS मोबाइल ऐप।

• ऐप का उद्देश्य प्रामाणिक हस्तशिल्प और हथकरघा के विपणन के लिए एक मंच प्रदान करना है।

• इस पहल का उद्देश्य स्थानीय उत्पादों को बढ़ावा देना और एसएचजी सदस्यों के लिए आजीविका के अवसरों को बढ़ाना है।

  ऊर्जा संक्रमण सूचकांक 2023

• सूचकांक विश्व आर्थिक मंच (WEF) द्वारा जारी किया जाता है।

• इसने अपने ऊर्जा संक्रमण सूचकांक (ईटीआई) में भारत को विश्व स्तर पर 67वें स्थान पर रखा है।

• सूचकांक भारत को सभी आयामों में ऊर्जा परिवर्तन की गति के साथ एकमात्र प्रमुख अर्थव्यवस्था के रूप में उजागर करता है और सिंगापुर एकमात्र अन्य प्रमुख अर्थव्यवस्था है जो "संतुलित तरीके से स्थिरता, ऊर्जा सुरक्षा और इक्विटी को आगे बढ़ाकर सच्ची गति दिखा रहा है।

• सूची में स्वीडन शीर्ष पर है और उसके बाद डेनमार्क, नॉर्वे, फिनलैंड और स्विट्जरलैंड हैं।
